Welcome!
My name is Jerod Gardner. I was born into a farming family who live and farm in Potterville, Michigan. I attended the University of Michigan for college, and Michigan State University for medical school. I did my training in Flint, Michigan prior to taking a job at Kelsey Hospital in beautiful Lakeview, Michigan, where I was one of the last doctors to set foot in the hospital prior to it’s closure. I am Michigan Made, and proud of it.
Following this, I became the Medical Director for a large healthcare corporation in Grant, Michigan, where I championed access of care to all patients seeking healthcare advice and treatment. I remembered what it was like to watch my friends growing up suffering from healthcare ailments and being unable to seek affordable healthcare, and worked hard to prevent my patients from the very same.
I became discouraged as healthcare became more of a business, and found myself splitting ways with the healthcare company as medicine left it’s sense of community behind in order to chase it’s bottom dollar.
I spent months reading, planning, and listening to books, conferences, and discussions regarding the state of healthcare in America. Healthcare corporations got rich and flourished while Americans got poor and sick. Pharmaceutical and insurance companies pay men and women in suits to sell your doctor medications and procedures their patients don’t need or can’t afford, but deny you coverage of lifesaving procedures and medications.
So I went to work.
I travelled the state buying gently used furniture and supplies to furnish my office, speaking to both individuals and small business owners across the state about their healthcare and insurance concerns. I signed up for a national bargaining group of like-minded physicians for discounted prices on medical supplies, lab testing, and medications. I refurbished furniture and healthcare items myself, because I knew a few dollars saved here and there could be put towards lower costs for my patients. After all, I was a farmer’s son, and we don’t buy; we fix.
Suddenly, I found myself with a practice that was mobile, welcoming, and ready for the future of healthcare in small-town America.
The mission is simple - repair the physician-patient relationship, fix the barriers to care in the community, reinvest into the medical infrastructure of the community, all with one simple goal: a better quality of life.
If I save one life from a preventable death, this business will be a success. Join me, follow me, maybe stop by and give your thoughts on how we can make the Tri-County Area healthier. I hope that at the very least you feel that you have a local doctor who can and will advocate for you and your community. I am in your corner.
I am proud to be Sand Lake’s only physician and to have the opportunity to improve the community my little family fell in love with. Let’s make healthcare community-based again.
